for season (2876 in 1981) and career (8597); in passes attempted and completed for season
(226 of 380 in 1981) and career (693 of 1204), and in TD passes for season (37 in 1981)
and career (79) Dan Marino is Pitts all time total offense leader with 8290 yards.
Dan's Pitt jersey was retired. He finished his college career ranking on NCAA all
time lists - fifth in passing yardage, fourth in completions and fourth in TD passes.
During his college career, the Panthers made four bowl appearances-Fiesta, Gator,
Sugar, and Cotton. Marino led The Pittsburgh Panthers to four consecutive top ten A.P.
Poll finishes with a 42-6 record Marino was an All American as a junior and finished
fouth in Heisman Trophy balloting as a junior. He was MVP of the Sugar
Bowl. Graduated Pitt with a Communications Degree. |
